Suggested  Replacement Line

 

There is an excellent alternate to the line proposed by NSP between Red Rock and Inver Grove Heights.

The suggested line, which is shorter than the proposed line, has the following advantages over the proposed line:

Passes with 100' of at least 20 residences and within 300' of 40 residences

Goes no nearer than 300' to any home

Dissects at least 3 residential communities

Goes entirely through industrial areas or along existing highway rights of way

Necessitates the burying of the line east of the airport

No portion of the line need be buried

Goes over rough terrain

Lies on flat terrain

Destroys numerous trees and plants

Damages no vegetation

Mars attractive areas including lakes and parks

Causes no additional impingement upon lakes, parks, or other scenic areas

In the slides, the Yellow-tinted areas represent industry; the Red-tinted areas are residential, and the blue-tinted areas are undeveloped or parkland.  Areas with no tint are either highways are distant from the power lines.
